ALSS Traditional Method

Tiles Removed and re waterproofed – 10 Year Warranty*

The ALSS Traditional Method stages of repair are as follows:

1. Remove floor tiles and cement bed on the balcony floor.
2. Apply primer to balcony floor.
3. Screed balcony floor with correct falls.
   
4. Waterproof balcony (2 coats & primer) going inside the floor waste pipe.
   
5. Retile balcony floor.
   
6. All rubbish will be removed and site will be left clean.
   
7. The ALSS Traditional Method is compliant with Australian Standards and comes with a comprehensive 10 year warranty.*

* Not every balcony can be sealed. The floor tiles must be in excellent condition, the floor must be on a concrete slab and there are to be no cracked, crazed, broken, loose or drummy tiles. There also must be a fall to the drain. Basically the area must be solid, sound and in good condition and not be undergoing structural movement (structural movement in newer buildings is more common as the structure may be settling). Only when the bathroom/balconies comply with the ALSS guidelines can they be sealed over the tiles. If there is failure in the product within the 5 years ALSS will credit the cost of sealing over the tiles (that has been already paid) from the tile removal works. If structural movement occurs, the warranty will be void.
